Our Core Values

WELCOME

The church is not a building but a people. The doors of our sanctuary open wide. We are an affirming congregation. Our motto for decades has been: “To all who would know God and do God’s will; to all who would live and serve to make the world better; to all who seek comfort and would find rest; to old and young, wise and unlearned, rich and poor, saint and sinner, this church opens wide its doors and in the name of Jesus Christ bids you welcome to our Father’s house.”

WORSHIP

We believe that, as human beings, we are all beloved children of God, and that God wants to be in relationship with us. Worship is an opportunity for us to experience God’s spirit in the church gathered. In worship, we are reminded of who we are and whom we are called to be. At Knox, we strive for excellence in worship through music, liturgy and preaching.

WORLD

In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus says: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Faith is not an activity of the head or the heart. It is made real in how we live in the world. At Knox, we seek to spur one another on to live individual lives of integrity. As a church body, we continue to find new ways to be the body of Christ in the world, through offering Twoonie Community Breakfasts, supporting the Food Bank, and Christmas Care, and being actively involved in raising funds for the Canadian Food Grains Bank, Presbyterian World Service and Development and other charities.
